Ujjain
84 Mahadev refers to the 84 ancient Hindu temples dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in and around Ujjain city in Madhya Pradesh, India. These temples are believed to have been built during the reign of the Paramara dynasty, and they form an important part of Hindu pilgrimage in India. Each of the 84 temples houses a Shiva Linga, and the devotees who visit these temples have to perform 'parikrama' or circumambulation around the temple to complete the Darshan. It is believed that completing the 84 Mahadev Darshan is a significant spiritual achievement and brings blessings and fulfillment of wishes. The 84 Mahadev temples are visited by devotees from all over India, especially during the auspicious month of Shravan, which falls between July-August, as it is considered an ideal time for Lord Shiva's worship.
